Youth Voices. Real Stories.
Every Story Shifts the Frame.

A student-led film festival celebrating stories about equality, opportunity, and representation.

THE STORY THAT INSPIRED EQUAL FRAME

Equal Frame Film Festival was inspired by student storytelling that explores fairness, opportunity, and representation.

Equal on Paper, a student documentary created for the C-SPAN StudentCam competition, examines equality in athletics and the legacy of Title IX. Stories like this remind us how powerful youth voices can be.

(This film is not part of the festival competition but helped inspire the creation of Equal Frame Film Festival.)

WHY EQUAL FRAME

Equal Frame Film Festival celebrates student filmmakers who are telling stories about fairness, opportunity, and representation.

We believe film has the power to challenge assumptions, amplify unheard voices, and spark meaningful conversations. Equal Frame exists to give young storytellers a platform to share their perspectives and shift the frame on issues that matter.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We welcome short films from student filmmakers that explore issues shaping the world around them. Films may focus on topics such as:

equality and opportunity

community stories and social issues

identity and belonging

sports and youth culture

stories that challenge assumptions or spark conversation

Documentary, narrative, and experimental films are all welcome.

FESTIVAL DETAILS

Equal Frame Film Festival will take place at the Huntington Beach Public Library.

The event will feature student films that explore themes of equality, opportunity, and representation, followed by conversation and community discussion.
